LANSING, MI: Continuing its unwavering commitment to employee safety, the Michigan Counties Workers’ Compensation Fund (MCWCF) proudly announces the recipients of its 2024 Loss Prevention Grant program. This year, five innovative and essential safety projects received funding, totaling $21,749 to improve workplace safety across various counties and authorities in Michigan.
The grants for 2024 span a range of safety initiatives, emphasizing the MCWCF’s dedication to fostering a safe working environment for its members. From ergonomic solutions to advanced safety equipment, these projects are designed to enhance safety standards and reduce workplace hazards and injuries:
- Chippewa County received a grant of $4,095 was awarded for the procurement of an Electric Vehicle Fire Blanket, a crucial addition for fire safety measures
- Gogebic County Community Mental Health received $3,199 for ergonomic workstations aimed at improving employee comfort and reducing musculoskeletal injuries
- Mackinac County received a $4,455 grant for adjustable height workstations to support ergonomic practices and employee well-being
- Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority was awarded $5,000 to enhance lighting improving safety for night patrols and low-visibility work environments
- Oceana County received $5,000 for equipment to promote healthy work habits and reduce strain injuries
Building on past success, MCWCF Administrator Tim McGuire stated, “Our commitment to workplace safety extends beyond providing financial support. It’s about empowering our members to recognize and proactively address safety risks in their work environments.”
With a year-round application process, the MCWCF grant program ensures a timely response to the evolving safety needs of its members. A dedicated committee of trustees evaluates each application, ensuring grants address impactful and specific safety concerns.
Since its launch in 2014, the Loss Prevention Grants Program has provided more than $345,000 to fund various safety initiatives, demonstrating MCWCF’s steadfast dedication to enhancing safety within Michigan’s public agencies.
